Victims of Violence Intervention Program, operating Artemis House Shelter, is seeking a Crisis Line Advocate to join our team.

Crisis Line Advocates answer the phone (remotely) during non office hours and on weekends (4:30 pm until 8:00 am Monday-Thursday; 4:30 pm Friday until 8:00 am Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday). Advocate schedule is at least ONE night per week and at least ONE weekend per month.

Recommended Qualifications: High school diploma and additional education in human services or related field. *Must have experience or education relevant to the position. *Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues, trauma informed care, awareness of various local cultures of clients, and a degree in human services or related field.

Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, attention to detail, able work well under pressure, sound judgment and decision-making skills, courteous and helpful, maintain confidentiality. Advocate will determine need for immediate services and provide resources to individual callers.

*Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:*

1. During specified hours, be available to; answer the on-call phone, provide support, resources, education, and advocacy services, and complete all required paperwork.

2. Be available to answer the phone from 4:30 PM- 8:00 AM and respond as needed. Must be able to answer the phone in a quiet setting and be in cell service location.

3. Would need to be able to work at least ONE night per week and at least ONE weekend per month. Additional training may be required.

4. Promote positive VVIP public image.

5. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by VVIP.

*Crisis Line Advocates are paid a stipend for their time. *_*While remote position, advocate must be able to attend in-person trainings in Spearfish, SD.*_

*$30 weeknight, $60 holiday, $120 weekend. *_*Advocates are expected to take one night per week and one weekend per month.*_

*Must be able to pass a background check.*
