*Job Overview*
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving its mission and strategic goals. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization, including program development, operational management, and business development. This role requires a visionary leader who can inspire staff, engage stakeholders, and drive process improvement initiatives while ensuring the organization operates efficiently and effectively.
*Duties*
* Communicate with the Board and oversee provision of services by the Shelter.
* Coordinate program development and planning. Cross training in all areas of Shelter operations.
* Provide and arrange for direct services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. This includes crisis-line calls, walk-in-needs, rape crisis response, on-call duties, and legal advocacy and case management.
* Ensure that public relations activities are carried out regularly, including media relations, assisting and or providing educational presentations, rural outreach, networking, relevant correspondence and publicizing fundraising events.
* Prepare requests for grants, gifts and all other funding to ensure adequate financial support for the Shelter. Responsible for development of Shelter budget in cooperation with the Finance and Development Committee. Approve budgeted purchases requested from staff.
* Participate in the development of financial record keeping policies and maintain financial records on funding received and accounts payable.
* Supervise and communicate regularly with staff and advocates including recruitment, training, evaluation and discipline. Also responsible for maintaining a participatory and respectful style of management.
* Ensure physical upkeep of the Shelter.
* Maintain client and agency confidentiality at all times.
* Must participate in flexible scheduling including evening or weekend shifts, overnights, and holidays. This position is overtime ineligible.
*Experience*
* Proven leadership experience in a senior management role within a nonprofit or similar organization.
* Demonstrated success in business development, including identifying opportunities for growth and securing funding.
* Strong background in process improvement methodologies with a track record of implementing effective changes.
* Experience in project management with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
* Exceptional negotiation skills with experience in managing contracts and partnerships.
* Strong strategic planning capabilities with a focus on aligning organizational goals with operational execution.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
* Master’s level degree and above in Human Services and/or related field and/or equivalent experience is preferred.
